WINDHOEK

It was an eventful weekend for Windhoek’s entertainment scene - from music concerts and fashion house launches to victories in the film space.

The Studio launched
On Friday, 1 October, The Studio was launched in Windhoek. A wholly-owned Namibian fashion house, it is located in Ausspanplatz along Independence Avenue, next to Sicilia restaurant. The fashion house sells clothes, jewellery, hats, handbags and more – all locally produced by Namibian designers. A joint venture by award-winning designers Ndapewa ‘Pewa’ Metha Uushona of Proud by Pewa and Mathew Nalimanguluke of MN Creations, The Studio is described as a “home to Namibian fashion pieces”.
“We are proud to finally open this shop. Besides our products, The Studio also stocks other Namibian brands,” Uushona said.

More wins for ‘Kapana’
The Namibian film ‘Kapana’, produced by Phillipe Talavera, recently won an award for best feature film at the Black Star International Film Festival in Ghana. This morning, the film’s official Facebook page announced another nod: “And another award for ‘Kapana’. We got a special mention from the jury of Cleverson Rodrigues Scream Queer 2021 – an Italian festival celebrating unconventional stories.
“Featuring among films from Canada, Italy, France, Germany and the USA, ‘Kapana’ is the only African film to have won an award at the 2021 festival! This is indeed a great honour.”
