Weekend recap: Musicians celebrate independence with new visuals

Even though the ongoing pandemic affected the usual Independence Day celebrations in the music fraternity, Namibian artists still found a way to entertain their fans and celebrate the country’s 31 years of independence.
Ovi-trap pioneer Nga-I released visuals to ‘Kozondundu’ off his latest EP ‘Herero Hero’. The video dropped on Sunday, 21 March, on his YouTube channel.
To pay homage to Namibia’s fallen heroes, Nga-I shot some of the scenes at Heroes Acre.
Gazza is another artist who gifted his fans with new visuals for ‘Tala Kaantu’ on Independence Day.
“As promised, here is something that is long overdue to keep you guys entertained before we drop #Messiah. Happy Independence Day to the Land of the Brave,” the musician wrote.
Doing something a little different but exciting, award-winning singer Adora - who is part of Eenghoshi Bikers Club - participated in a ‘Ride of Hope’ which saw members riding from Okahandja to Swakopmund as part of the club’s independence celebrations.

Host-less awards
In news from beyond our borders, the Academy Awards will be host-less this year amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, with offers being made to creatives to present categories.
“Producers are making offers to talent they hope will come in to present the categories during the partially in-person live telecast on Sunday, 25 April.
“The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and producers hope for high-profile presenters to hand out the awards on a rotating basis throughout the night,” a press statement read.
