It was a victorious weekend for Namibia’s art and entertainment scene, with DJ Spuzza hitting a million views on YouTube for his hit song ‘Soek Soek Remix’ and Namibian film ‘Mukumo’ being selected for the Atlanta Black Pride Film Festival 2021.
Announcing the milestone, DJ Spuzza shared that this is his first organic one million views. The video premiered on YouTube on 30 October 2020 and features Chester Houseprince, Mega, Chakie and South Africa’s AKA.
“Thank you, Namibia, and to everyone who made this achievement possible,” the DJ said.
Meanwhile, ‘Mukumo’, a short film by multidisciplinary artist Namafu Amutse, is waving the Namibian flag high internationally. The film will be featured at the 2021 Atlanta Black Pride Film festival slated for 3 and 4 September in a virtual event.
“Grateful for this first selection and counting on many more. A huge congratulations to everyone involved,” Amutse said.
“Mukumo is a queer boy navigating bullying by his peers and judgement from his father. With the help of his best friend Kahewa, he stops running to take a stand.”
The short film premiered last July.
Lastly, musician Lioness and creative director Luis Munana will be attending the Lusaka July next month. The personalities shared the news on their social media platforms.
