After a series of singles and collaborations, singer Waters has decided to gift the game with a fully-fledged body of work packaged as a four-track EP.

Novelty is a rare thing in Namibian music. Artists sound the same, dress the same, dwell on the same content, and not surprisingly, many perceive themselves to be unique. So, when a relatively new singer who isn’t bound by the sonic and social standards Namibian music imposes on itself - which sometimes limits creativity of music - comes along, we will welcome him with open arms.

In a time when people’s attention spans are minuscule, it was smart of Waters to keep the project brief. I am the type to really listen to a project five times over and sit with it for a while before I know how I really feel about it.

Having done that with this EP, I can confidently say it is a really flawless piece. From production to song placement, everything is just perfect. The featured tracks include ‘My Mind’, ‘Lady From The South Side’, ‘Lies & Jealousy’ and ‘Communication’.

If you’re one of those people who go on about how hip-hop and R&B were at their peak in 2008, this EP is for you. If this was 2008, Waters would be dripping in 061 merchandise and signed to 061 Music as the hottest singer. Yes, he has hits, the passion he delivers his lyrics with is refreshing - or is it nostalgic? - and his beat selection gives the project some good range.
