WALVIS BAY

A second suspect has been arrested in relation to the murder of Shannon Wasserfall, whose remains were found in a shallow grave in Walvis Bay on 6 October, almost six months after she went missing.

Steven Junior Mulundu (22) made his first court appearance and was charged with murder and defeating the course of justice.

According to deputy commissioner Kauna Shiwambi, he surrendered himself to the police at the Narraville police station after systematic investigations were carried out.

“According to the suspect, he was allegedly called by his sister Azaan to help her dispose of the body of Wasserfall. After his surrender, he was subsequently detained around 22:45.”

Azaan Madisia (28), Wasserfall’s best friend and the godmother to her child, was the first suspect to be arrested.

Bail denied

During a brief appearance before magistrate Vicky Nicolaidis, the order was granted for Mulundu’s to be joined with Madisia’s.

“As the State is opposing bail, at this stage it is denied.”

The accused remains in custody.

The case was postponed to 7 December for further investigations.

The State was represented by Maggy Shiyaga and Mulundu’s was represented by Gilroy Kasper.

Wasserfall laid to rest

A memorial service for the late Wasserfall will take place at Walvis Bay’s Jan Wilken Stadium at 17:00 on Friday, 13 November, while the funeral will take place from the Roman Catholic Church in Kuisebmond at 09h00 on Saturday, 14 November.
