Upcoming artists doing well

Finally there is good news in the music industry as a music guru says there are massive sales from upcoming artists' albums.

Music manager and owner of popular music shop Antonio's Arts, situated in Town Square, Antonio Dragan, says upcoming artists are doing quite well in terms of sales. Antonio says for the first time in a while his top ten selling albums list is made up of new artists and this should be celebrated. Artists including Filly-Zo, K-Dio, Kinzzo and D-Kandjafa, just to mention a few, are giving hope to upcoming artists and their music.

“This is music you find in jukeboxes and it's very popular. The albums are selling like hot cakes and it's amazing to witness it because this is all after one month of selling,” he said.

He says the only problem the majority of the new artists face is the fact that they are based in the northern towns and many of them don't have the financial means to market their music. Antonio says he will take up the challenge to get the artists' work recognised.

“They are not under my label but perhaps I will sign some of them. They really need attention otherwise they will disappear from the scene. The artists also need to invest and make time to come to the city to market their brands. Coming to Windhoek doesn't have to be expensive; they can stay with relatives or friends until they go back,” he said.

Antonio says he is also introducing the artists that are currently in Windhoek to local producers, such as Glo, to help them record better material that is of high quality. He also advises local artists to invest in pictures to market their brands and arts better.

The other mainstream albums that are currently flying of the shelves include Exit's latest album.
