Tutorific, a tutoring programme established at Swakopmund, hosted an award ceremony last week to honour their top-performing students.

Tutorific was founded in 2018 by Elvino Bezuidenhoudt. He started with a group consisting of 32 learners and over the years the tutoring programme has grown from strength to strength and now accommodates over 100 learners. The programme first started out with only mathematics and accounting.

Currently, five tutors are assisting learners in mathematics, accounting, biology, physical science and chemistry. Tutors include Elzeyn Nanuses, Elvino Bezuidenhoudt, Cody Brockerhoff, Zurine Jacobs, Armas Hangula and Dolores Rooi (supervisor).

Students were awarded for their performance in 2020 as well as for the first term of 2021.

Crystal Risuro received the Tutorific Management Award (this is similar to a principal’s award); the Dux Tutorific award was given to Darren van Wyk; the most tenacious student was Joshlyn Dentlinger; Nadia Araes was the student of the year; and Reece Borman was named as the most versatile student.

“It's quite simple, in order to empower the youth you need to add value to what they already have. Be the match that light their candle because these kids don't realise that they have massive potential. It all comes down to attitude. It's all about you. We are only planting the seed, it's your own responsibility to keep watering it,”
