Tlale brings traffic to a halt in New York

Designer David Tlale is currently in New York represented Mzansi at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) with his showstopper street style collection. Tlale brought traffic to a halt when he took to the streets of New York to unveil his latest collection in multiple locations.

He used two iconic New York backdrops as the setting of his show; Times Square and the Highline - a former raised railway line turned park - where Bonang Matheba and Anatii were in full support as he unveiled his Azania Spring/Summer collection. In the street runway show, Tlale used 15 models to express his collection's narrative.

“I always enjoy presenting the unexpected and I couldn't think of a better place than the streets of NYC to show my new collection which is, after all, inspired by this city, its hustle and fast-forward bustle,” says Tlale. Using new fabrics without losing the silhouettes and glamour he is renowned for, the Azania collection was inspired by the history of Courvoisier and its French origins.

“With this collection, I speak of the glamour and energy of NYC while the textures and colours juxtapose past with the present. It is amazing to be back at NYFW and I'm so happy I did a street-style show and not a runway. “People were wondering what was happening - and that was what I loved about it. To have people come up to me and say 'yes, honey, we love it!' meant the world to me,” says Tlale.
