Namibian middleweight boxer Lukas 'The Demolisher' Ndafoluma has his sights set on fighting at least once before the end of the year.
The boxer, who has been out of action since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, is hopeful that he will be able to do what he loves the most again soon.
The fighter said he is excited that sporting events around the world have gradually resumed, and that Namibians are also planning boxing cards. “There are signs that things are getting back to normal and all one could hope for is to at least have one fight before the end of the year.
Ready for whatever
“I have been working hard in the gym and I can tell you that I am ready for anyone who is willing to face me.
“As a boxer, the months we did not have any action were just too much and I am definitely itching to throw some punches,” he said.
Ndafoluma, who admitted in June that he had to overcome stress and depression following the cancellation of a bout just before lockdown, continues to dream big.
World champion dreams
“I still want to become a world champion and will continue chasing my dreams until I am able to achieve that.
“It has been a difficult career but things were finally moving in the right direction until this virus came to spoil everything. I am, however, emotionally stronger as a person now and ready to conquer the world of boxing,” he added.
The boxer further encouraged all sport personnel to keep trying their best when staging events under the new normal.
He said he is confident the world will overcome the pandemic that has hit every sector in the country.
Ndafoluma's last bout, against Malawian fighter Charles Misanjo, resulted in a victory at the Windhoek Country Club last December.
