Swim coach
Renaud Van Neel
Renaud Van Neel is a swim coach at Aqua Swimming and Fitness Club CC. He is responsibilities include teaching children from the age of 3 up to any age and adults how to swim and be water safe.
He is also a gym instructor, working with the swimmers to strengthen and to help them become faster and fitter swimmers. Van Neel also assists with anyone who needs help in the gym.
Neel said he was inspired to become a swim coach because of the fact that he is a sporting individual and love sport.
“It has benefited me in so many ways and this is one of the reasons I coach,” he said.
He became qualified at being a swim coach as at first he was taught by 2 ladies with the name of Samantha and Alexandra and as time went by he taught himself by looking at what all the other coaches did.
Neel recently completed his level 2 ACASA Swimming Diploma at Tuks in Pretoria trough my employer Aqua Swimming and Fitness Club cc.
The character trait need to become a swim coach is it requires only that you know how to swim and have a lot of patience and understanding of how to work with kids.
Some of the best highlights throughout his career journey has to be the satisfaction of seeing, that 3 year old boy or girl who walked in for the first time crying and fighting with you because he or she is freighted and confused about the whole situation. And then after gaining their trust they learn how to swim and you see that smile on their faces.
“That is priceless and that gives me the satisfaction of a job well done, even though that might only be the start of a really long relationship between a coach and swimmer,” he said.
