Smith makes Walvis Bay proud at Miss Supranational Namibia
“Each and every pageant I have entered throughout my life has shaped me into the woman I am today,” the leggy beauty said.

Former Miss Walvis Bay Monique Smith is a semi-finalist in the prestigious Miss Supranational Namibia beauty pageant, set to take place in Windhoek on 14 November.
Holding numerous titles including Miss De Duine 2013, Miss Walvis Bay 2014 and Miss Tourism Namibia 2014, the beauty said she is excited to be part of the pageant.
“I haven't looked forward to any other pageant like I am with Miss Supranational. Every semi-finalist in this pageant is in a league of her own and the way the Supranational team contributes to the goals the ladies have set for themselves is amazing.”
After winning Miss Tourism Namibia in 2014, she decided to take a break from pageantry, Smith said.
However, a post by former Miss Supranational Namibia, Yana Haenisch, captivated her last year and encouraged her to enter.
Working on personal growth
“Each and every pageant I have entered throughout my life has shaped me into the woman I am today. I am entering Miss Supranational to continue working on my personal growth and to set a unique bar for young women who desire to live beyond themselves,” she said.
Smith added that she wants to continue her self-growth and to cement herself as a strong woman who inspires others.
“My main objective is to use this platform to create awareness for a project I've been working on, namely the LAB Foundation.
“It's a foundation that provides the public a channel to donate building material to abolish shacks in Namibia. The foundation will first cater to the victims who lost their homes in the Twaloloka [now Otweya] fire a few months ago and then move to other parts of Walvis Bay and Namibia.”
Mental and physical fitness
The beauty queen said pageantry and modelling require the same any sport does: Being mentally and physically fit.
“You need to be ready to take on the challenge and challenge yourself to grow because with each pageant, you will grow too.”
Her message to young Namibian women is to take on any challenge with passion.
“You never know your potential unless you give yourself the opportunity. Never limit yourself to your town. Go out there and set the bar high for yourself and, most importantly, believe in yourself,” she said.
The other finalists for this year's Miss Supranational Namibia are Andeline Wieland, Nuukelo Malima, Chanique Rabe, Zenobia Eises, Ashleigh Kleintjies, Rejoice Namupala, Zandri Scholtz, Leone van Jaarsveld, Johanna Nashandi, Koviao Kapose Katjerungu, Mathilde Daniel and Shasmida Eises.
