Swakopmund-based rapper Smartboy, real name Faith Samaseb, recently shot a music video for his track No Lie, which features 2011 Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) male artist of the year, Jericho.
Tsumeb-based songbird Angel also provided vocals for the track, which is Smartboy’s first single off his forthcoming debut album, Perfection.
The rapper exclusively revealed to tjil that fans can expect to see the video, scheduled to be released in June, on one of Africa’s most watched music channels, Trace Africa.
He added that it will also air on NBC and One Africa, and it will be available on YouTube.
Video concept
According to Smartboy, the concept for the video was inspired by the song’s lyrics.
“It’s about a woman waiting for me to show up at home. Instead, she catches me red-handed when I fail to do so. I talk about how I made a promise to her and end up not living up to it.”
Scenes featuring the rapper and Angel were shot in a hotel at Swakopmund.
Namzee and Sabrina Brown directed the video, which was produced by Fame Pro Vids.
Director Veikko Silas also played a crucial role in the making of the video, Smartboy said.
Streams and downloads
The track, which has already been downloaded over 1 800 times and streamed over 3 500 times, is available on Namibia Music.
The 15-track Perfection is due to be released soon.
