Swakopmund-based rapper Faith ‘Smartboy’ Namaseb (27) was recently nominated twice at the second edition of the Youth Eminence Awards in Ghana.
The ‘Vrrpaah’ hitmaker was recognised in the best music video of the year as well as the highlife song of the year categories.
The incredible visuals for his hit ‘No Lie’ earned him recognition for music video of the year, a song he collaborated on with the 2011 Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) male artist of the year, Jericho, while Angel provided the soothing vocals to the track.
According to the rapper, the video concept was inspired by the song lyrics.
“It’s about a woman waiting for me to show up at home. Instead, she catches me red-handed when I fail to do so. I talk about how I made a promise to her and end up not living up to it.”
The scenes with Smartboy and Angel were shot at a hotel in Swakopmund. Namzee and Sabrina Brown directed the video, which was produced by Fame Pro Vids.
Another director, Veikko Silas, also played a crucial role in the making of the video, which peaked at number one on a One Africa Television music video countdown.
Vote
His second nomination, which is for highlife song of the year, is for his catchy hit with Ghanaian superstar Ama Nova, ‘Bokor Bokor’.
“I am so grateful to everyone who believes in my talent. This is for you,” he recently posted on Instagram.
With the artist with the most votes being awarded, the ‘Manu Bate’ hitmaker urged everyone to render him their support by voting for him. “Please do vote for me and let’s bring this one home,” Smartboy, who is working on his album ‘Perfection’, said.
The musician's participation code for best music video of the year is YE78, and YE79 for highlife song of the year.
