Seibeb releases Sadu |Nami
Namibian gospel sensation Rodney Seibeb launched his Sadu |Nami album at Swakopmund's COSDEF Arts and Crafts Centre last Saturday.
The Sadu |Nami album launch, held under the theme Let's Dominate and which was organised by Welwitschia Music Productions, comprised of a star-studded line-up with the likes of Phono, Stella !Naruses, Gerry Dread and Piri Gure, among others, gracing the stage as opening acts.
According to Seibeb, the title of the album, Sadu |Nami, is about the unconditional love of God which one needs daily in order to love others.
Seibeb told tjil the reason why he does music has to do with making a lasting impact on society.
“I do music to inspire people so that they know that there is hope out there,” he said.
The 35-year-old singer opened his performance with a worship song titled, “Jehova is His name”, which captivated those who were in attendance.
One of the opening acts at the concert, Gerry Dread, entertained the crowd with his unique reggae sound as his song “Stop passion killing” warming the crowd's hearts.
Stella! Naruses also added flair to the showpiece as she took us down memory lane. Her knack in performing her biggest hits like “Uaripi”, “Okurama Kwetemba” and “Kapepo” got the crowd on its feet. She also performed her latest single which will be part her next studio album due to be released in October. The song is titled “Baby I love you”.
Rodney Seibeb, who recently received two nominations for this year's NAMAs for the Best Gospel and Best Reggae categories, displayed vocal prowess as he performed his latest tracks which included “Sida tsina ra tsâ |kha” (means - it has an impact on us in Damara/Nama) and Sadu |Nami.
In the Best Gospel category, his song: “Sadu |Nami” will be up against Effy's “Hallelujah” My Ongoma's “He loves you”, N.I.A's “I give my life to you” as well as Bradley Anthony's “Wangithathala”. For Best Reggae, Seibeb will face competition from Athawise, D-Naff, Lorenda and OC Bulan.
According to him, the nomination comes as a bonus. He encouraged young people to take their education seriously as studying is the key for them to unlock their potential.
