Entrepreneur Dianah Namases (33), who is best known for her watch brand Sage by Dee, recently released a new collection in honour of Walvis Bay.

The harbour town has endured a lot this year – from the Twaloloka fire to becoming the country's first Covid-19 epicentre - which led to concept of the Walvis Bay Closet Essentials Seasonal range, she said.

Despite all the sorrow that has plagued the town, the entrepreneur said “happiness and joy led me to design the range”.

“I am always captivated by the sense of belonging in Walvis Bay and was excited to design watches that feature our locations and street names,” Namases said.

The range features locations such as Tutaleni, Lagoon, Meersig, Narraville, Kuisebmond, Namport and Sea-Point within the watches' interior.

'Worn with pride'

“Sage by Dee designs are aimed at cheering our locals up by presenting them a watch that has areas they live in, to be owned boldly and worn with pride,” she added.

Although the coronavirus lockdown measures and restrictions brought many challenges to various businesses, the entrepreneur said she didn't want to waste valuable time focusing on something she had no control over.

“I rather focused on what would help me and my business to grow and stand out, no matter how slow the progress or process is.

“I didn't feel any setback on my business during lockdown; I enjoy my business at a pace that is comfortable,” Namases said. She added that the aim of her business is to focus on the excitement it brings to her customers.

“Since I had a vast amount of time during lockdown, I used it to learn how I could grow my brand once everything settled. I also took time to learn new trades. Time is a luxury and needs to be used for a good cause.” As a brand, Sage by Dee took time as part of its social responsibility to support the affected Twaloloka community, which has since been renamed to Otweya, through donations. “We are elated to have been able to support our fellow brothers and sisters. The entrepreneur, who is a traffic officer by profession, scooped the 2018 Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards favourite accessories prize.

In the same year, she was inducted into the Namibia Business Hall of Fame as an emerging entrepreneur and saw her accessories showcased at the 2019 Windhoek Fashion Week.
