In celebration of its decade of existence of nurturing the Namibian sound, RMB Song Night yesterday released its schedule for 2021.
In a press statement, RMB Song Night founder and director Lize Ehlers shared that since its inception in 2011, this free platform has tirelessly developed hundreds of singers from all 14 regions of Namibia.
“With humble beginnings, Song Night simply offered a platform for emerging singers to perform,” Ehlers said.
This year’s series will take place on the following dates: Wednesday, 24 February; Wednesday, 28 April; Wednesday, 30 June; Wednesday, 25 August, and Wednesday, 27 October, taking place at 19:00 for each of the dates.
Endless possibilities
Following the structure of Spoken Word for poets and Free Your Mind for comedians, RMB Song Night offers new singers more than just a free professional stage with lights, sound and a technician.
“The platform also offers singers instrumental backing tracks they can perform with, a piano player for the singers who want to create their own acoustic version of a song, a vocal coach and an opportunity that launches a thousand possibilities,” Ehlers mentioned.
Due to the pandemic, in 2020, Song Night moved online, offering shows that featured singers like Gigi Has Arrived, Rencha, Nasim, Alex, Niilo and more. Over 25 000 viewers shared in new Namibian songs performed with the RMB Song Night band.
The shows can be streamed via facebook.com/songnightna.
“To be part of RMB Song Night, email five original songs, your biography and photo to [email protected],” Ehlers added.
Follow RMB Song Night on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as the platform continues to nurture the Namibian sound with its first decade show kicking off in two weeks on Wednesday, 24 February, at 19:00.
