As the cold settles in, there are many trends on our social media timelines, which promise to be major fashion moments this winter.

With many designers reviving old styles and giving them an edgy twist or simply creating something totally new, Presentation of my Life (POM) Couture has entered the chat with their latest collection.

George Shiyepo Illarius, the creator of POM Couture, is among the designers ensuring that street fashion enthusiasts have something fresh to add to their wardrobes this winter.

Illarius said POM Couture's latest capsule collection, Family Values, is a representation of who he is and where he is from, adding that it is the spirit and soul of the black family bond.

He said the capsule depicts the exploration of closeness amongst both chosen and blood family.

Back to roots

“As far as the concept and inspiration is concerned, it was really us going back home, back to the little things that mattered to us while we were growing up. These are the stuff we took and incorporated them in vignettes and still photography.

“The vignettes and still photography portray truthful, harmonious, hardworking, happy and positive imagery depicting black family life in Sauyemwa, Oshakati, Katutura and other townships around Namibia or Africa at large,” he shared.

Evolution

The designer, who first showcased at Windhoek Fashion Week last year, described his latest offering as the evolution of POM Couture as a brand. He also shared that he does not work on anything unless he feels it is missing in his closet. “The Family Values capsule is such an improvement from anything we have made before, so much so that it makes me feel a way about some of my earlier pieces we have produced. Something I am sure every designer or creative goes through,” he said.

Illarius this week released POM Couture's first ad on Instagram TV – a visual representation that sums up the capsule in 36 seconds. “The goal is to get everyone to share their humble beginnings and how it has shaped them into what they are today.”

To get your hands on the collection, hit up POM Couture's website, Instagram DMs or WhatsApp via 081 287 1367.

“We do nationwide and international deliveries. Inbound delivery takes one to three working days after we have received the payment,” he said.
