Frieda Beukes obtained a Certificate in banking at IOB in 1999, completed various credit and collateral Bank Windhoek courses, a Bank Windhoek Credit Diploma accredited by the Institute of Bankers South Africa in 2004, a Management Development Programme at Bank Windhoek in 2006, a Leadership Development Programme in 2017 through the University of Pretoria, and a Senior Management Development Programme in 2019 through the University of Stellenbosch.

She was enrolled at the University of Cumbria to complete an MBA, but put that on hold until the time is right to continue.

Beukes started at Bank Windhoek on 10 March 1997. “I can still remember it like it was yesterday. I was part of the first Bank Windhoek CBT programme and was the best candidate in cheques administration. The MD then, Mr Van Vuuren, sent me a personally addressed best wish behind a picture that I still have till date.

“My journey started as a cheque administration clerk. I then went on to be a teller, then enquiries clerk at Mariental Branch. I learned foreign exchange and then moved to Swakopmund Branch as a collateral clerk in the year 2002. An opportunity presented itself to move to Ondangwa Branch as a credit clerk, which I then embarked upon. This was my first time moving to the North, but embraced and looked forward to the change,” says Beukes.

At the Ondangwa Branch she was promoted to credit officer. She then moved to Windhoek as a senior credit officer at the Sanlam Centre Branch in 2009. In late 2009 she was promoted to Oshakati Branch as a credit manager and stayed in that role for four years. Then she moved back to Windhoek again in 2013 as she was appointed as credit manager at their head office. There after she was promoted to a senior credit manager.

When the Oshakati branch manager position became vacant, Beukes applied and was appointed in January 2020.
