No one will be left out – Haikali
The Namibia Football Association president has ruled out any possibilities of him being the only one to travel on Fifa and Confederation of African Football missions.
Namibia Football Association president Ranga Haikali says Fifa and Confederation of African Football (CAF) missions will be divided fairly among the association's members.
The president believes this will enable the association to operate in harmony and will ensure that no one feels left out.
In the past, NFA presidents have been accused of taking trips alone in order to benefit more from travelling allowances.
NFA presidents enjoyed jet-setting lifestyles and rubbed shoulders with the elite of world football, while other members remained idle in Namibia. These meetings are usually held to make decisions around African and world football.
Haikali however promises that his regime will be much different as he wants all his team members to work together.
“I mentioned earlier when I was elected that this is a team and we will therefore work as a team.
“This means that work will be divided fairly and all members will get to travel equally when required to.
“I will be attending a CAF congress in April, while the first vice-president will attend a Fifa meeting early on this year,” Haikali said.
This means that members in the NFA executive will equally benefit from Fifa and CAF meetings, coupled with match commission fee incentives. Members travelling are entitled to close to N$18 000 per trip as allowance.
Haikali, a wealthy businessman, will lead the NFA for the next four years, replacing Frans Mbidi, who was removed by the former executive in 2018.
Haikali defeated Johnny Doeseb 20 votes to two to take the presidency at the association's 28th elective congress last month.
Here is the full list of results:
