Nesa hosts Dota2 final
The five gamers selected will represent Namibia in upcoming regional and international competitions.

WINDHOEK
The Namibian Electronic Sports Association (Nesa) hosted the Dota2 national tournament's final event last weekend.
The online competition saw several gamers from different regions competing for top spots, and is said to have been a great success.
“The final saw 10 dedicated, motivated and focused e-sports athletes from across the country come together to compete for their respective positions on the Namibian Dota2 team.
“Supporters were thrilled and welcomed by Nesa's president, Flip de Bruyn, as the event kicked off early on Saturday morning,” Nesa's Salomé de Bruyn said.

The games were streamed through the Nesa YouTube channel, with Flip casting the event.
During five matches, gamers rotated and had a chance to showcase their skills. “The selection committee had some tough decisions to make as every athlete was on top form and precision.
“As the event approached the end, athletes showed nerves of steel as the team selections were announced,” Salomé added.
Upcoming international competitions
The five gamers selected for the Dota2 2020 national team are: Franlo 'FreyTiX' Meyer, Mauro 'PoRRa07' Teles (nominated as vice-captain), Jurgen 'Phycodamage' Teichert, Paul 'APoC' Bingel and Stiaan 'Iceman' van der Merwe (captain).
The team will represent Namibia in upcoming international competitions, and will also represent Namibia against South Africa in the regional International E-Sports Federation's E-Sports World Championship contests.
These winners will then go through to the E-Sports World Championship finals, which will take place in Eilat, Israel, in December.
Second qualifier this weekend
Salomé thanked everyone who made the competition possible.
“We would like to thank Logitech G, Future CC and Vander Designs for helping us make this event a reality,” she said.
Meanwhile, Nesa announced that it will be hosting the second qualifier for the national tournament in E-Football PES 2020 and Tekken 7 this Saturday, 19 September.
Anyone is welcome to compete, Salomé said, with the competition taking place at at 10:00 at APS Guesthouse in Windhoek.
Entry fees are N$50 per game title for Nesa members and N$100 for non-members.
To register, complete an entry form and submit a copy of your passport or ID.
Entry forms are available via esportsnamibia.org, or can be requested via [email protected].
The top three places in each title will receive cash prizes and Namibian citizens will stand a chance to qualify for the Namibian e-sports team.
