Ndumbu expelled over missing NEFF cattle money

One of the reasons why senior NEFF leader Abraham Ndumbu was expelled from the party two days before Christmas is because he allegedly failed to account for N$60 000 he was entrusted with to buy and sell cattle on behalf of the party.
It is also alleged that Ndumbu was trying to overthrow the party's leadership, more particularly its president Epafras Mukwiilongo, whom Ndumbu allegedly described as unfit to be in parliament because he is corrupt and cannot speak proper English.
This is according to NEFF's national coordinator and second-in-command, Kalimbo Iipumbu, who spoke to Namibian Sun yesterday.
Ndumbu was suspended from all NEFF activities on 28 October 2020 and was expelled on 23 December. Ndumbu refused to comment on the matter when contacted yesterday.
Cattle trading
Iipumbu said the party leadership decided early last year to raise funds by speculating with cattle.
Ndumbu was entrusted with implementing the business idea, for which he was given N$60 000.
“Upon receiving this money and agreeing on the principles of how the business would be run, he went on to procure the cattle but he did not come back to inform us how many cattle he had procured and how many of them he was going to sell to generate revenue for the party,” Iipumbu said.
“As the national coordinator, I was then instructed to enquire from him what was going on.
“The answer that I got at the time was that he had sold one cow for N$5 800 and I shared with him the party's banking details so that he could deposit that money.
“He deposited the N$5 800 and from there on he did not deposit any more money into that account. That was last year around August,” Iipumbu said.
Broken English
Iipumbu said another reason why Ndumbu was expelled was his alleged attempts to overthrow the party leadership.
Iipumbu also repeated a wild allegation made in a radio broadcast last year - that Ndumbu was trying to get rid of party president Epafras Mukwilongo by means of witchcraft.
“One of the things he was suspended for was that he went around to instigate other fighters that the president and Kalimbo are corrupt, which is not in line with the principles of the party,” Iipumbu said.
Iipumbu said some of Ndumbu's allies had informed him that Ndumbu had been making disparaging remarks about Mukwiilongo's English proficiency.
“Apparently Epafras cannot speak English and should not be in parliament.
“As a revolutionary leader you shouldn't really start gossiping about your leaders. These are the people you are supposed to respect,” Iipumbu said.
He said Ndumbu was supposed to appear before a disciplinary committee on 23 December 2020 but did not turn up and was subsequently expelled.
In his letter of expulsion, Ndumbu was ordered to return the N$60 000 belonging to the party.
When contacted for comment, Ndumbu yesterday denied having received N$60 000
He declined further comment, saying he was considering his next move and would announce it before end of the month.
“I do not want to dwell much on the issue now as I am in the process of dealing with it. I cannot entertain the media at this point in time,” Ndumbu said.
