NAU and LPO regional meetings end Friday
STAFF REPORTERThe office of the Namibia Agricultural Union (NAU) has been a hive of activity in preparation for the nationwide regional meetings of the union and the Livestock Producers’ Organising (LPO) that started this week.
According to the NAU these regional meetings are being held in place of the annual congresses. The NAU says that regional agricultural unions and their respective farmers’ associations were divided into the respective meetings.
The first meeting was held on Monday at Otjiwa Lodge outside Otjiwarongo and was followed with a meeting on Wednesday at Birds Mansion Hotel in Keetmanshoop.
Tomorrow the meetings will conclude in Windhoek at Arebbusch Lodge.
The day will start with a thematic discussion titled ‘Change the Shape of My World’. The president of the NAU, Pieter Gouws, and the chairman of the LPO, Thinus Pretorius, will introduce this theme.
The programme for the rest of the day will address the normal issues such as finances, but also includes feedback and discussion on hotspots with which the NAU and LPO are involved on behalf of their members.
“The NAU's wonderful milestone of 75 years of existence will also be celebrated,” according to the union.
It added that the NAU and LPO are very grateful to the sponsors who made the hosting of these three meetings possible.
Through their contributions, the registration fees could be kept to a minimum. The main sponsor of the day is FNB, and the co-sponsors are Feedmaster and Agra. Windhoek Motors also provided sponsored transport to the NAU/LPO team.
