Earlier this year, NamibRe sponsored the Miss Namibia Pageant to the tune of N$30 000 to help fund operational costs as well as the production of profiles for the Miss Namibia top 15 finalists.

NamibRe once again supported Miss Namibia by sponsoring an additional N$20 000 cash prize to the winners at a ceremony held at their office premises on Thursday. The prizes were handed over by Elizabeth Nailenge, NamibRe’s chief corporate communications officer, to Miss Namibia 2021, Chelsi Shikongo, and the first and second runners-up.

In attendance were Beaulah Boois of NBC, pageant director Conny Maritz, media reresentatives and NamibRe staff.

The sponsorship will be shared among the winners as follows:

• Miss Namibia: N$10 000;

• First runner-up: N$6 000 ;

• Second runner-up: N$4 000.

“Chelsi Shikongo is a representation for all of us and I believe that the responsibility lies on all of us to support heras a whole,” Nailenge said.

Maritz said the donation by NamibRe made it possible to film the finalists of Miss Namibia, which was shown during the virtual Miss Namibia crowning.

Shikongo thanked NamibRe on behalf of the recipients. “We would like to thank NamibRe for this generous gift and because of this we are able to work on our charity campaigns that are so dear to our hearts and the projects we have lined up,” she said.

Shikongo implored more companies to come on board and support the Miss Namibia Organisation. “It is because of the love and support that we can believe in a better tomorrow and confidence to pursue a future just as beautiful of the women of this country,” she concluded.
