Namibians in uniform need housing
The Namibian defense force requires land to develop housing for about 1 000 officers, as well as additional land for other military installations.
In addition, the Namibian police force needs land to build houses for about 5 000 officers, while the Namibian correctional service needs land to settle about 3 000 officers.
These figures were released by the City of Windhoek (CoW) on Friday, after its councillors undertook a tour to various land sites around the capital to try address the housing need of people in uniform.
“The main aim was to improve living conditions, easier access to duty stations; which in turn has a positive impact on efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out their duties,” CoW said in a statement.
The focus is now on project implementation, CoW said, adding that land allocation to correctional services is high on the agenda. - Nampa
