Namdeb hosts mines, housing ministers
Ministers Tom Alweendo and Erastus Uutoni, along with Bank of Namibia governor Johannes !Gawaxab, last week toured Namdeb’s diamond mining operations in the South.

Namdeb last week hosted a ministerial visit to its operations as part of its stakeholder engagement.
The delegation comprised of the minister of mines Tom Alweendo, urban and rural development minister Erastus Uutoni, Bank of Namibia governor Johannes !Gawaxab and Namdeb deputy board chairperson Martha Uumati.
The delegation went on a site visit to Southern Coastal Mine, where they were taken through the Namdeb diamond extraction process which included accretion, strip mining (stripping), bedrock cleaning, and the diamond processing at 3 Plant. The visit concluded with a visit to the Red Area Complex where the delegates were shown the final process that include recovery and sorting of diamonds.
On reflection of the visit, both ministers and the Bank of Namibia governor, thanked Namdeb for inviting them to visit the operations.
“We now have a better understanding of the operations and appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. We want to thank the Namdeb leadership and the entire workforce for their continued work in creating a sustainable business that will contribute to the development of Namibia,” Alweendo said.”
