Following the 2020 Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) nominee announcement by MTC and NBC recently, many musicians have shared stunning artwork to inform their fans of the categories they are nominated in.
When distributing singles or albums, artwork plays a big part in selling and promoting music.
In fact, for artists, artwork is often the only sphere they feel they have complete control over, and with the NAMAs nomination artwork, it’s impressive to see how many nominees gave these forms of communication as much attention as their music.
Namibian music activist, radio personality and brand manager Shona Ngava told tjil he believes nomination artwork is important because artists are informing their fans about the awards they are nominated for.
“I think the nomination posters also boost the public image of artists.
“The NAMAs are the biggest awards Namibia has to date, so it’s advisable for artists to also gloat about the nominations they got,” he said.
Artists who boast outstanding artwork include Sally Boss Madam, DJ Castro, Lioness, Kp Illest, Cassidy Karon and more.
“God is good; I’m truly humbled and grateful for the recognition,” said Sally Boss Madam on her four nominations.
Birthdays galore
In other news, while many musicians are celebrating their nominations, some of the biggest household names are also celebrating their birthdays this week.
Among them is 2019 male artist of the year Exit, who celebrates his 31st birthday today.
“So many people think growing up is a bad thing, but trust me, it’s the most beautiful thing that can ever happen to you,” he said.
Other stars celebrating growing older this week include King Elegant, whose birthday was yesterday, and Mushe, whose birthday is tomorrow.
