'Misunderstood' a guaranteed hit
Gazza has called on the best producers to work on his album and tjil chats to South African Pex Africah about what it's like to work with him.
A South African producer has been roped in to work on award-winning artist Gazza's 12th album. The album titled 'Misunderstood' is anticipated to drop on 30 November and Pex Africah promises it will be phenomenal. The producer, who has worked with Gazza on his previous album 'Pumumu', said he always learns something new from the Imba singer.
“He is a guy that is so deep in music and one never knows what to expect when we are in studio because he doesn't plan on what is to happen, it just flows. This is something I like because many artists like to follow trends whilst Gazza makes music with his soul. This is what makes us work well together because we are really alike when it comes to work ethic,” he says to tjil.
The Soweto-born producer and DJ is known to promote his tribal and Afro sound. He now airplays internationally and is currently signed under the biggest local Mzansi record stable, Kalawa Jazmee. Pex Africah has also produced beats for kwaito singer Professor, Oskido, Kabelo Mabalane and locally, Lady May. The producer will be mixing and mastering the 'Misunderstood' album and says the whole album will be different from Gazza's last offering as it is will be more musical.
“There's a leaked song 'Chelete' from the album and by the response of the public they will surely love the rest of the work. I really can't wait for the finished product. We will finish with everything by end of November,” he said.
Pex Africah says he loves Namibia and working with Namibian artists, as they make him feel at home. The 'Slay Queen' producer says Namibian artists have done great thus far as there is significant growth in the industry which is visible in their creativity. “Comparing industries, Namibia is very small industry and artists don't have to do a lot because they end up giving too much. Artists need to know the limit because the population is small and everyone is doing music for the same people, while back home, every town sort of has its own industry so it works for everyone. It is okay to copy music styles from other countries because music is the same all over but now and then, always include your culture to localise it,” said Pex Africah.
'Misunderstood' is expected to feature GMP artists Teqla, Blacksheep and Jeiyo as well as 'Warakata' hit makers, One Blood, and four international artists.
