Mbaeva mourns former teammate

Golden Arrows and former Namibian international goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva has described his former teammate, the late Nkanyiso Mngwengwe, as a strong player.



The 30-year-old Mngwengwe died from heart failure at his home on Monday.



“It is sad that one of our former teammates has left us because he was such a great player and captain for the team.



“We enjoyed several seasons together for our club and I am deeply saddened by his passing,” Mbaeva said.







Close bond



Mngwengwe played at the back and had close communication with the Namibian goalkeeper.



The late footballer made his debut for Arrows in August 2013 and went on to play more than 140 matches over the years.



KickOff reported that the former Arrows captain is survived by his two children and his fiancé, who had been preparing for their wedding.







Condolences to family



“I just want to pass on my deepest condolences to his family who lost a great man at such a young age.



“He was a talent and an asset to Golden Arrows and to South African football in general. We will indeed miss him,” Mbaeva added.



Mbaeva made his debut for Arrows in August 2014 and has gone on to make over 95 appearances for the club.
