M-Gee to share Covid-19 compilation

Afropop singer M-Gee is gearing up to release a coronavirus-inspired playlist that will feature four songs. The compilation is slated for release this Friday on Donlu Africa.
In an interview with tjil, M-Gee clarified he is not releasing an album or EP but rather a compilation to keep music fans entertained during the lockdown period. He mentioned that one of the songs on the compilation is in four languages: Rukwangali, Otjiherero, Shona and English. “I incorporated different languages because I want to create awareness beyond just my physical surroundings or community,” he said.
On how the pandemic has affected him as a musician, M-Gee mentioned he worked so hard last year to push his music to the masses and he was hoping to continue sharing his music, but that has been halted by the lockdown. “I had a lot of gigs in the pipeline, but they have been cancelled because of this pandemic, so I would say it has affected me badly as an artist.
“I urge everyone to adhere to the measures that have been put in place to combat this virus. It is by doing so that things will get back to normal, so with that said, please maintain social distancing and wash your hands often, as per the advice by the health ministry,” said M-Gee.

Creating awareness
Besides the compilation dropping on Friday, M-Gee is also working on creating a series of episodes that he will share on his YouTube channel. For these episodes, M-Gee feature musicians and comedians in the Kavango regions to create awareness about the coronavirus. “I do not just want to use musicians, hence I will also feature different creative for this initiative. The first episode features TKB and will be available on my YouTube channel soon,” he promised.
M-GEE also commended the Kavango Music Awards (KAMAs) for being proactive and teaming up with the ministry of health in the fight against coronavirus. “KAMAs is using nominees as ambassadors in conveying the correct information about this pandemic,” he said.
