In the Namibian entertainment space, 2020 has been the year of women - they set trends, they made history and they set the standard for excellence.
And women achieved all of this while being the primary victims of terrible crimes and social ills like gender-based violence.
It’s not a secret that it has been a tough year for Namibian women, and in light of recent events, rapper Lioness believes a women-only celebratory event is just what the doctor ordered.
“The year is coming to an end, and I am pretty sure this is not how Namibian women want to say goodbye to 2020. An event celebrating women is exactly what we need right now,” she said, adding that her mission with this event is to achieve collective happiness and awareness.
While she does have plans for other events of this kind, she said these will be influenced by the turnout tomorrow.
Bold statement
The word ‘hoe’ can be a sensitive one. Asked why she thinks it is so important to reclaim it with the title of this event, Lioness said: “It really depends on what power you give the word ‘hoe’. To me, it’s a simple bold statement. The question is why not?”
DJs Roxy and Kiki will be on the decks, while Lady Nay will be the MC. The event will feature celebrity guests and fun activities like beer pong.
Entrance is N$50 and the event will run from 15:00 to 22:00.
“We will be partying up a storm, but no mask, no entry,” the rapper said.
