Last week we covered the models – now we announce the most exciting of all – the designers to showcase the event. It was not an easy task deciding which designers to choose as hundreds of applications flooded in, at the end it was about how many could be accommodated as opposed to a lack of numbers. Organiser of the event Mavis Brega says that it is no secret that 70% of the fashion weeks are for designers and ultimately celebrates their creativity, translated through their designs and extensive collections. Thus the designers are the highlight of any fashion week. “Our designer selection ranges from student designers who''ve showed exceptional ability to stand out from the rest, emerging designers who just broke out into the scene, followed by established and seasoned designers who will showcase their collections alongside invited international designers,” she said. Slot one is titled “Style for every story” and will take place on 4 November at 18:00. Standard tickets will sell for N$250 (100 seats available) and Front Row/VIP will cost N$500 (50 available). The official opening of fashion week, consisting of Namibian heavy weight Melissa Poulton with her latest collection called EARTH , the Manzvat brand belonging to Angolan designer Alves Nanhkova who has been likened to the African Kanye West, newcomer Hapi and established Namibian designer Mc Bright Kavari with his elegant Otjiherero themed Mc B collection. PUMA unveils her plus-size collection inspired by Windhoek Draught, you do not want to miss this! The designers in this slot bring you a collection which takes you to that safe place where you as an individual can express yourself through your clothes. The slot titled “Dresses to win” will take place on 4 November 2016 from 21H00. Standard ticket prices are N$250 (100 seats available) whilst front Row/VIP tickets are N$500 (50 available).The second edition of Windhoek Fashion Week opening day inspires individuals who dare to win by defying all odds in “Dresses to win”. Your clothes say a lot about you when the people around you can tell that you are dressed to win! This show slot consists of winners, winners such as Salmi designer of the Salshi brand who was victorious last year at the Swakara young designer''s competition, her work went as far as Europe. London graduate Ingo Shanyenge a known winner in every sense of fashion brings you the Waterfall collection. The slot is also shared by Rusa Namuhuya an emerging designer as well as Hafeni Frans who is the only Namibian designer to be featured in the fashion bible Vogue magazine. Mshasho brings flare to it all as The Dogg unveils his exclusive new collection for the first time on a national fashion runway.This third slot is called “Power in my style” and will take place on 5 November 2016 from 18H00.Standard tickets are selling for N$250 (100 seats available) and the front Row/VIP tickets are N$500 (50 available).The designers/creative directors in this slot give meaning to what it really means to put power in style. Aside from having existing powerful personal brands, they''ve taken it a step further by translating that very power in clothing collections. Paledi Segapo owner of Palse brings his unique South African taste of power to Windhoek for the very first time. Maria Nepembe a celebrated powerful Namibian style brand presents for the first time, on a runway, her latest RIA collection 1 year after launching the brand. Staying true to the powerful theme, Zimbabwe''s celebrity stylist Craig Zoowie teams up with popular designer Thembani to show Namibia the Zimbabwean power of style. Forever powerful, forever sticking to trends, renowned retailer Forever New also showcases a collection in this slot. Lastly we see Nicoleen redefining the word damaged! The very last slot is called “The intern” by David Tlale, which will happen the evening of November 5 from 21H00.
