NBC Omurari Radio sport presenter Vezemba Rodman Katjaimo is set to challenge his removal from the station's sport desk.

This after the NBC slammed the presenter with a letter notifying him that he will be removed from the programme for three months after he allegedly to showed bias against the Namibia Football Association (NFA).

Katjaimo said he feels the NBC did not give him a fair chance, and he will be seeking legal representation on the matter.

“I will definitely consult my lawyers on this matter because it is not fair that I have been moved without a warning or a fair chance to defend myself,” Katjaimo said.

Conspiracy theories

In the letter, written by NBC station manager Marina Matundu on 16 April, Katjaimo was informed that his comments on a sport programme were considered biased.

“After my investigations on the NFA complaints based on the sport programme produced and presented by Ivonne Katjiuanjo-Tuerijama, it was clear your analysis was too critical and your comments were based on speculations rather than facts.

“You were accused of having conspiracy theories against the current leadership of the NFA.

“With [the] powers vested in me as station manager, I have decided to relieve you from the sport programme for at least three months, effective from 1 April to 16 July,” the letter reads.

The radio station has in the meantime assigned Katjaimo to produce other programmes.

Unfair

He added he believes the station did not handle the matter properly, because the programme was not produced by him, but by Katjiuanjo.

On the programme, Katjaimo questioned the appointment of acting NFA secretary-general Franco Cosmos, who was part of the normalisation committee which organised the association's congress in February.

“I also spoke about Patrick Kauta and the fact that the Court of Sport Arbitration has requested audios of the vetting process for the NFA presidency.

“I said all this in my personal capacity and not on behalf of the NFA and I just find it unfair that I had to be crucified for that without any warnings,” Katjaimo fumed.
