Ivan Roux

South African musician Ivan Roux was born for the stage. Having hosted ‘concerts’ in his bedroom since he was a young boy, the musician reached the top 10 of South African Idols in 2014.
Despite the achievement, his career didn’t ignite the way he wanted it to.
"I never stopped working my fingers to the bone to get where I want to be," he said.
His time to shine finally arrived in 2018 when he signed up for the popular reality show The Contract. He teamed up with South African star Dewald Wasserfall and eventually emerged as runner-up.
"My career caught fire in a way I could not have imagined. I have performed with the greatest artists on some of the greatest stages in South Africa and everywhere,” Roux said.
Dream come true
This will be his first visit to Namibia, and he said he is very excited for the opportunity to perform at the Namibia Tourism Expo.
"For as long as I can remember, it has been my dream to perform in Namibia. It's an amazing, beautiful country with some of the friendliest people I've ever met. I believe I will be received with open arms."
Namibians can look forward to an energetic, lively show, he added.
Taken its toll
The pandemic has affected musicians' careers in a way that no one could explain, and Roux is no exception.
"We have had no income for the past seven months and I have to say I think it has taken its toll on every artist in and around South Africa."
His message to those still suffering from the aftermath of the pandemic is that everyone should stand together and help each other where you can.
"The hardest thing for me was to be so alone and feel that I was the only one who was suffering, but in fact, that time was a burden on all of us."
