The Miss Global Organisation recently announced Rahab Inghalwa as one of the candidates participating at this year’s pageant. Following this announcement, tjil reached out to the model and entrepreneur to share her hopes and wishes for the competition. The pageant is scheduled to take place from 25 February to 1 March.

On how she managed to enter the pageant, Inghalwa shared that she has always wanted to take part in Miss Global since she missed out in 2017 when the time was more ideal. She believes that with the pandemic caused by Covid-19, there’s so much positivity that’s needed in the world and Miss Global is doing this by empowering women, embracing different cultures and embodying the beauty from within.

“Miss Global is one of the pageant organisations that’s inclusive to all women and this is the type of pageant I want to be part of,” she said.

She mentioned that she has been strictly a fashion model for the last few years and is excited to be doing this pageant for the first time because it’s going to be a different experience for her.

“I’m confident that I will do well because of my experience in modelling industry in general.”

History

According to the Miss Global official website, the pageant was founded by Van M. Pham in 2011. It further details that prior to creating the Miss Global Organisation, Pham had been in the pageant industry since 2003, primarily within the Vietnamese community to promote Vietnamese beauty pageants.

In 2009, Pham had the opportunity to meet both Miss World 2008 and the president of Miss World, Julia Morley.

“This encounter allowed Pham to realise he can go beyond the Vietnamese community in creating a global platform that can not only unite diverse women from all walks of life, but to create a platform that can truly make a positive impact in making a difference in the world.

“Miss Global is about empowering women, giving them a voice to speak up in making a difference. It's about embracing cultures, accepting our differences, celebrating our diversity and understanding that is what makes us special and unique.”

Support needed

Inghalwa said the video shared by Miss Global’s Facebook page is an introduction to Namibia and herself, and it was the third one to make it to the Miss Global Instagram and Facebook account.

“To be one of the top finalists, my supporters need to watch, like, comment and share my video so every Namibian can see it,” she said.

She also called on anyone who’s willing to collaborate with her, especially on wardrobe, to have their designs on an international platform, to contact her at [email protected].
