Information sessions kick off
The NAMAs organisers have started sharing information with potential nominees.
The host town of the Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) for the past three years, Swakopmund, witnessed the start of information sessions for next year's awards last weekend.
The information sessions are imperative and necessitated by the need to apprise artists and entertainment journalists about the rules and regulations of the awards, entry prerequisites and how to complete the forms manually and online.
Erasmus Nekundi of the NAMAs organising committee commended coastal artists for attending the session, while putting emphasis on the significance why prospective nominees need to avail themselves for it.
“We are quite excited and pleased with the artist turnout. In the past we have recorded a number of artists whose entry forms were disqualified, sometimes not because they have not met the requirements, but because their entry forms were inaccurately completed.
“Generally, when you are equipped with the right information, you are bound to do things correctly. The information session is thus aimed at sharing the necessary information that artists should know before they apply to enter the NAMAs,” said Nekundi.
He expressed contentment with the proceedings at the coastal session.
“The session was well-attended and we anticipate the same for the next upcoming NAMAs information sessions,” he said.
Call for Entries for the 10th NAMAs is now officially open.
The deadline for entries is 13 December 2019 and no extensions will be allowed.
Only artists who commercially released albums, whether online or in hard copy, between 1 December 2018 and 30th November 2019, will be eligible for entry.
No rule changes have been made and artists are encouraged not to wait until the last minute before they enter, because the vetting committee will disqualify their entries if they do not comply.
Following the information session on Friday, an open session was also conducted on Saturday, where the NAMAs team dedicated time to assisting artists with completing their entry forms.
