'Hitman' faces tough brawl
Paulus 'Hitman' Moses will cross swords with Russia's Adlan Aburashidov tonight in Moscow in a WBA/WBC Asia title fight, while fellow Namibian Lukas 'The Demolisher' Ndafoluma will also be in action.
Former two-time world champion Paulus 'Hitman' Moses is set for tough night, as he not only faces Russia's Adlan Aburashidov, but also the home-ground advantage his opponent will enjoy.
Moses last fought in October last year when he lost the WBO Africa lightweight title to Ghana's Emanuel Tagoe via a unanimous decision.
The 41-year-old Moses, who has 45 fights, 40 wins and five losses to his credit, has since left the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing Academy and is now training with the African Connection (AC) Boxing Gym, owned by his brother and trainer Immanuel 'Ace' Moses.
Through the partnership with his new gym, Moses has signed a one-year contract with Global Boxing Stars.
His new contract includes three fights and he has had ample time in the gym with his training partners to work on a comeback.
Aburashidov (29) only has two professional fights to his name and is undefeated.
The experience gap between the two fighters will work in Moses' favour. However, the Russian is on a quest to make a name for himself and the fight will be tough for the Namibian.
“Hitman is lucky to be getting this type of fight at his age. He is going to fight an Olympic gold medallist with a great amateur pedigree. It will be a tough fight, but he is ready, as it will be a do-or die situation.
“He is also lucky to fight for two titles on one night, with a win guaranteeing him a top 15 WBA/WBC ranking,” said Moses.
He added that boxing has grown in Namibia, as most fighters are now competing outside the country, which is a good sign. Lukas 'The Demolisher' Ndafoluma will be fighting on the same card in Russia.
Ndafoluma will fight Russia's Apti 'The Tiger' Ustarkhanov for the WBO super middleweight inter-continental title.
“We have two great Namibian boxers on the card, as well as a South African, Jackson Chauke. Africa is well-represented,” Moses added.
Ndafoluma said his fight will be very exciting and that he is ready to return with the WBO title.
This will be Ndafoluma's second fight in Russia this year, after he lost to Aidos Yerbossynuly on points in a WBC Asian Boxing Council continental super middleweight title fight.
He will head into the fight with a record of 15 wins (six by knockout) and two losses in his professional career. His Russian opponent boasts a record of 22 fights, 16 wins (four by knockout), three losses and three draws.
