Grandfather lures girl with N$5
A 12-year-old girl was lured with N$5 to a house at Omulunga in the Saamstaan where she was raped.
According to the police, the girl was lured by a grandfather to his residence on Tuesday and the matter was only reported on Saturday. No arrests have been made.
In another incident at Usakos, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 20-year-old boyfriend on Saturday, while he was under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police, the boyfriend apparently came home drunk and assaulted the girl and raped her. He has been arrested.
Meanwhile, at Oranjemund, a 24-year-old woman was raped by a 40-year-old man on Saturday. It is alleged that the man entered the room of the woman through an open door and raped her while she was intoxicated. Both the woman and the man were apparently under the influence of alcohol and live in the same block of flats. The man has been arrested.
In another incident at Tses, a 20-year-old man attempted to rape a 16-year-old girl at the Soutputz location. The incident occurred between Thursday and Friday.
According to the police, the girl was violently pushed against the wall, suffocated with a cloth and the man then raped her. He has been arrested.
In another incident, a 17-year-old boy lost his life last weekend after a fight over a woman at a local bar in Tsumeb, when a 25-year-old man decided to take the fight further and ran him over with a car.
According to the police, the incident occurred at Soweto location in Nomtsoub on Saturday.
It is alleged that Therence Augumeb died on the spot after he was run over by the vehicle.
Apparently Augumeb and the 25-year-old man had an altercation over a woman at a bar and started throwing stones at each other. Augumeb and his friends allegedly fled from the bar on foot, but the other man pursued them by car. He apparently found Augumeb in the street and ran him over. The suspect fled the scene, but was later arrested at his residence.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a 21-year-old woman kidnapped a three-week-old baby girl at the Shamvhura village in the Ndiyona District in the Kavango East Region.
According to the police, the woman unlawfully and intentionally took the baby from her mother while she was bathing. She apparently took the baby to the Mukuvi village where she was arrested on Sunday.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday at the at Okalunga location in Oniipa after she allegedly gave birth to a baby boy and dumped the baby in a toilet pit. The police was alerted and they rescued the baby. Both mother and baby were admitted in Onandjokwe State Hospital and are in stable condition.
In another incident at Otjiwarongo, a 22-year-old man stabbed his mother with a knife in her left arm on Sunday. She was taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for treatment and was discharged thereafter. The suspect was arrested.
Two drownings were also reported last weekend. At Okahao at Otsalindi village in Omusati Region, it is alleged that the almost three-year-old Mateus Sem Shaanika drowned in a well near their homestead while he and other children were playing near the well.
In another incident at Stampriet 10-year-old Senoritha Stephanies Pienaar drowned in a well near Elnatan Private School.
It is alleged that Pienaar, who was with her sister and a cousin, was sent to buy electricity and upon their return, they sat next to a well with their legs hanging in the water. While they were sitting and playing Pienaar fell into the water and drowned. Her body was later retrieved.
