Gobabis to host Jeraldo Eiseb tourney
Gobabis will play host to the first edition of Jeraldo Eiseb Floating Trophy on 3 and 4 November, with teams vying for the first prize of N$20 000.
The tournament is sponsored to the tune of N$40 000, with the winning team receiving N$20 000, the floating trophy and 20 gold medals, while the runners-up will receive N$10 000 and 20 silver medals.
The losing semifinalists will each receive N$5 000. The initiator of the tournament, Jermano Jeraldo Eiseb, a former Black Africa player, said the cup competition aims to assist the needy and feed pensioners in December.
“I have chosen two households who are living in houses built with plastic bags and boxes, to assist them by buying building materials to put up proper shacks,” he said.
He said there will also be small individual prizes for player of the tournament, top goal scorer and best goalkeeper. Man of the matches will be selected from the quarterfinals.
The tournament is co-sponsored by Brave Warriors goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva, JG Namway Investment owned by Women Football Desk coordinator Jacky Gertze, Willem Goeiemann, McBride Ndjavera and Gabes Eigowab.
Eiseb said the tournament is open to all teams.
The closing date for registration is 30 October and the draw will be conducted on 2 November from 20:00 at the Gobabis Combined School.
