Get your talent in the spotlight

The show, which is first of its kind, will feature only women, both established and new talents who will be showcasing their abilities with modelling, singing, dancing and acting.
“The ultimate aim of the show is to ensure that the best talent in the country irrespective of socio-economic background gets an opportunity to be recognised and nurtured. We are in the process of building a talent portal that we hope to pit against the best in the world to help establish Namibia as a definite niche for world-class talent. Our vision is to ensure that the best talent across verticals is tapped into,” says Selma Neshiko, the agency founder.
She Glows Talent Agency is an agency that represents female singers, models, dancers, presenters, video vixens and entertainers. The agency also identifies and develops new talent, promotes and arranges auditions and gigs for performers. This is a new and hopeful agency which believes that there are thousands of young aspirants each year who dream of putting their talent to the test and becoming someone, who are actively looking for an agent or representatives to represent them, hoping that the agent will take them to greater heights.
The agency currently does not have sponsors and represents over 20 female singers, dancers, presenters and actresses.
“I have all these girls under my wing and I decided to host a talent show to raise funds for my agency and not wait on things to happen for me,” said Selma. When she first started the agency, her focus has always been to help Namibian talent to reduce unemployment among the youth, train these young talents to use their talent and stay off the streets by being productive.
“Talent is not really recognised in the country but I believe it’s one of the activities or initiative that can help young people be responsible and use their time wisely instead of being involved with intolerable behaviour, “Selma said.
As a non-profit youth organisation the agency relies on gigs or Good Samaritans who help in any way they can to train and mentor the different talents.
“So far I’ve been paying money for all of my talents, rehearsal venue, food, clothing, and photo shoots, which is very costly. I’m very passionate about this and that’s why I decided to host this show to raise funds. These funds will not only benefit the talents under the agency but we wish to host another fun day in October to prepare Christmas gifts for vulnerable children,” said the eager founder.
Supporting acts at the show include Melissa Poulton, who will be dressing the models. The tickets will go for N$50, N$80 at the door, N$150 VIP. The show will start at 19:00.
Everyone under the agency is super excited about the first ever talent show and they can’t be thankful enough. “I am very excited to be part of this event because I know that it is going to be full of talent and so much energy. We aim at uplifting the females in the entertainment world. One thing that I have personally learned from being part of the agency and working with all these beautiful creative women is that we as women have the power to change everything in the industry, we have always had that power, so the time to shine and be who we really are is now,” said Rosalia Shikulo, one of the singers.
“I could not further my studies due to financial constraints. I’m always at home and wanted to do something but nobody wants to employ someone with no experience. And I thought to myself, why not just do something with what I’m gifted for: dancing. Through dancing I was able to buy myself basics that I wanted my mom to buy for me. It feels good to earn even as little as N$150 to be able to buy my needs and help out where I can at home. Come witness what talent means,” said another talent, Mdino Writter, a 21-year-old dancer who wishes to become a professional choreographer one day.
“We wish to partner with the National Youth Council as the first talent agency in the country and expand this initiative,” said Selma.
