Namibian wheelchair basketball star Rudly Gawaseb won bronze at the Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge in South Africa on Saturday.

This is a new personal best for Gaweseb in his first ever 42.2 km marathon wheelchair race at George in a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 29 seconds.

This was after overcoming a crush during one stage of the race where he managed to pick himself up and continue to race to the end.

“Well done to this upcoming racer of Namibia. Namibia was well represented. Lastly thanks to Hollard and Snyman's Transport for sponsoring his dream and Paralympic sports in general,” said Michael Hamukwaya, secretary general of the Namibia Paralympic Committee.
