Gates open for Miss Rundu applications
The second edition of Miss Rundu is slated to take place on Saturday, 8 May, the organisers announced.

Entries are open now for this year's edition of Miss Rundu, the beauty contest's funder Belle Rosberg confirmed.
In an interview with tjil, Rosberg indicated that with entries now open, she looks forward to the auditions, slated for next month, from which 10 finalists will be selected.
Rosberg said after the selection, the finalists will be exposed to a leadership mentoring programme, engaged into charity work as well as outreach programmes such as visiting schools for motivational talks.
Having skipped last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Rosberg added that this year's event will observe all health protocols to circumvent the dreadful virus.
“Beyond talent and beauty, the pageant is aimed at grooming fearless leaders that will be a voice to the voiceless and positive role models to the girl child in the two Kavango regions.
“The pageant also strives to tackle women issues, such as gender-based violence (GBV) and teenage pregnancy,” said Rosberg.
The reigning Miss Rundu, Michelle Mukuve, who clinched the crown in 2019, told tjil that her journey has been an experience of many things.
She said that the platform has given her exposure in the modelling community. “During this time, I managed to model at three fashion shows and get a nomination for favourite female model of the year at the 2020 Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards,” said Mukuve.
Moreover, as Miss Rundu 2019, Mukuve was also part of the menstruation and hygiene programme for young women in the two Kavango regions. “To sum it up, that's what I did during my reigning year, I planned to do more but Covid-19 disrupted some of those plans. It wasn't an easy experience but I hope the next Miss Rundu will do more than I did,” she concluded.
