Eric Garbers was pleased to win a photo shoot with Australian Red Bull BXM athlete Senad Grosic and his dream is to become Namibia's champion.

Namibia's upcoming BMX athlete Eric Garbers has been praised by Australian Red Bull BMX rider Senad Grosic, saying the Namibian is the best upcoming athlete.

The 22-year-old Namibian BMX talent recently received a video message from Grosic notifying him that he was the winner of the 2015 'Under My Wings' workshop, which took place in Windhoek.

This workshop, hosted by Grosic, taught local kids about building ramps and ethical behaviour in the media, alongside tricks and flips.

Grosic has monitored the youngster over the past year and said: “Eric is one of the best upcoming BMX talents I know. His skills and BMX tricks have improved so much over the past year. He has a good chance to become international.”

As a prize, Garbers won a photo shoot with his hero, Grosic, which took place in Cape Town in February,l arranged by the Namibia Red Bull team.

With approval of the international Red Bull sports department, Grosic handed over a Red Bull helmet to Garbers and broke the news that Garbers was the first Namibian Red Bull Athlete in history.

Namibia's Red Bull brand manager, Nadja Geiger, congratulated the athlete. “Well done, Eric! You have shown us that dreams do come true, if you work hard. The Red Bull team is proud of you! Now go out and show the world that Namibia has great talent in store.”

Garbers, currently a student at NUST, said: “BMX is my passion and my life; however I will do the right thing and finish my studies in township planning.”

Garbers will represent Namibia in upcoming international BMX competitions.
