Fashion week is upon us
Lighting up the catwalk with stunning fashion… a glitzy affair indeed.
Windhoek Fashion Week (WFW) is an industry event aimed at bringing together different fashion-industry individuals to showcase their latest collections on different runway shows. Buyers, customers and the public have the opportunity to experience these latest trends at fashion week.
This year, 35 international and local designers will be showcasing their work over three days.
WFW will start on 5 November with fashion talks hosted by the Fashion Council of Namibia and the Goethe-Institut, where they will be bringing in Dimeji Alara (Elle magazine's fashion director) and Josephine Barbe, which will be focused on fashion trends and African markets.
Other fashion focused talks that will take place on 7 November are to be hosted by Vaultz Connect magazine and Zeronine and will be hosted at Unam's main campus. Simply You Magazine will be hosting the official welcoming cocktail party for fashion week for industry professionals and fashion lovers.
House of Poulton by Melisa Poulton will kick off the runway shows for fashion week and this show will be an offsite event on 8 November. As for the main shows, the organising committee this year decided to partner up with Street Cuisine and Confab Bistro to host some of the shows of WFW.
COTA graduates have an exhibition-style showcase at Street Cuisine which will start at 17:30 on 9 November, thus giving an opportunity to fashion graduates to showcase their talent at the biggest fashion event in Namibia.
Confab Bistro (Rooftop) will play host to upcoming fashions designers on 9 November as from 19:00, which is also the last show for the night.
The night will end of with a free fashion soirée at Capello hosted by Reinhard Mahalie, Jay Aeron and Rumano Fabrishh.
Saturday will be a jam-packed show as emerging and established designers will be taking centre stage on the runway at the Nampower Convention Centre.
The shows will start at 19:30 and end with Maria Nepembe's 'Ria' collection being showcased. This day will see a mixture of local and international heavyweights in the industry showcasing their skills.
Windhoek Fashion Week 2018 is supported by NDTC and other partners to ensure that the show goes on. Front row seats are N$250 while standard tickets are N$150, available at Events Today.
