Fashion Soirée returns for second instalment
This trio continues to push the boundaries in entertainment, fashion and art.
It's Namibia's annual premium fashion party and fashion lovers are waiting with bated breath for the Fashion Soirée to be held at Nyama Restaurant in Windhoek on Friday, 8 November.
Hosted by three of Namibia's fashion connoisseurs - Reinhard Mahalie, Jay Aeron and Rumano Fabrishh - you have a few weeks to get your stunning outfits ready. Providing entertainment at this year's soirée will be DJ KBoz, Lioness and DJ MDU.
Jay Aeron describes the Fashion Soirée as the ultimate fashion party.
“We're hosting it to create the culture of partying in style, stepping out and slaying whilst serving looks. It's around the time of the Windhoek Fashion Week and it's the perfect excuse to dress up.
“It not only serves as a platform where Namibian celebrities party with the general fashion-loving public, in style of course, but it also allows guests to interact and network after the runway shows during the biggest fashion event of the year,” says Jay Aeron.
Reflecting on last year's event, Mahalie recalls that the first edition exceeded their expectations and they were happy with the turnout.
“Last year's event was well attended and sophisticated, as we wanted it to be. It was really nice and we can't wait to do it bigger and better this year,” says Mahalie.
On how the Fashion Soirée was born, Namibia's very own diamond Rumano Fabrishh says the three of them live for fashion. They are fashion enthusiasts and are always looking for ways to give back to the fashion community.
“This is one of our contributions towards the growth of the fashion industry in Namibia,” he adds.
Rumano Fabrishh tells tjil that the event does not have a big line-up of performing artists because the whole idea of the Fashion Soirée is for fashion enthusiasts to come together to dance and have fun.
“We do not want it to be like a concert or a music festival. Last year we did not even have any artists performing but since we are selling tickets this year we want to make the attendees' money more worthwhile so we brought few performers on board. We might still add two more DJs, but that is about it,” says Mahalie.
Asked how they keep their friendship solid, Mahalie says supporting each other is one key element that keeps their bond strong. He says they are passionate about what they do and they all want to see each other thrive.
“We support each other. Whenever one of us has a project the two will go and support. It sounds cliché but we were really born for this. Come party with us at the Fashion Soirée, tickets are available at Events Today.”
Jay Aeron, who was the official makeup artist for this year's Namibian Theatre and Film, is an androgynous model and also does a bit of fashion styling, style consultation, brand influencing and content creation.
Reinhard Mahalie is Namibia's most awarded fashion stylist; the only one in Namibia who has two fashion stylist awards. One is a continental award, the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards which he received in 2016, and this year he received Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards (SYMLAFA) Favourite Stylist.
“Recently I was honoured to be part of the GQ best dressed reader; the top 10. All in I do event MCing and I am a celebrity stylist,” said Mahalie.
Rumano Fabrishh is a model who has been featured in numerous photo exhibitions. He has also taken part at the Windhoek Fashion Week and other runways.
