Decomposed body found at Rehoboth

Murder, rape and assault are continuing despite most people staying home to avoid infection.

The decomposed body of a man was discovered at Rehoboth last Friday.

The body was found in the toilets of a vacated building in Olivier Street. The deceased, 34-year-old Mario Fish, had a wound to his head.

A 40-year-old suspect has been arrested for murder.



Rape

In another incident, a 20-year-old disabled woman was raped last Friday at Eenhana in the Ekolola location. It is alleged that a man (45) went into the woman's bedroom, undressed her and raped her.

The man allegedly lives in the same house as the woman, who is wheelchair-bound. The suspect has been arrested.



Beer crate assault

A man whose age is unknown died last Saturday after being assaulted with an empty beer crate.

David Khoraeb was allegedly hit with the crate several times on his head by a 34-year-old man at Berg Aukas on Friday. He was brought to the Grootfontein State Hospital on Saturday, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was arrested.

In another incident in the early hours of yesterday morning, two men were arrested during a join operation by the Serious Crime Protected Resources Unit and the Windhoek City Police in Wanaheda. Three hunting rifles, binoculars and silencers were recovered. One of the suspects had previously been arrested for a housebreaking at Otjere Farm, where a number of hunting rifles were stolen.

Drownings

Four drowning incidents were also recorded over the long weekend. Last Thursday, 33-year-old January Ileka drowned in a dam while swimming at Ondelishana village in the Omusati Region. His body was retrieved by police drivers.

In another incident on Thursday, the body of the 32-year-old Ashipala Johannes Shipopyeni was discovered while floating in water at Iikologo village in the Elim Constituency of the Omusati Region.

He was last seen on 8 April when he left home to visit a neighbour, but never returned.

On Sunday, Nghilifavali Daniel (23) drowned in a dam while swimming at Oshikwiyu village in Omungwelume. His body was recovered by police divers.

In a separate incident on Monday behind Donkerhoek location at Khorixas, 10-year-old Mbawana Tjiuana drowned while swimming in a river. His next of kin have been informed. Police investigations continue.
