D'Banj, Tiwa Savage, Master KG live in Windhoek
The line-up for this exciting event was announced in Windhoek on Wednesday and features Namibia's best musicians and African superstars.
2020 marks the 30th year Namibia has been independent from South Africa's apartheid regime. It was the attainment of independence in 1990 that started the gears of change and instilled hope back into what had been a hopeless nation.
To celebrate, corporate companies MTC, Namibia Breweries Limited through its Tafel Lager brand, the National Special Risks Insurance Association (Nasria) and Profile Investments have teamed up for an Independence Music Concert.
Come 21 March, the nation will be united under one umbrella at the event, set to be held at the Hage Geingob Stadium.
Addressing journalists and artists at the concert's media launch on Wednesday, MTC's manager of sponsorships and promotions John Ekongo shared Namibia has a lot to be proud of as a country after 30 years of independence, and MTC therefore wants to celebrate with all Namibians and, at the same time, show their appreciation to their loyal customers.
“The power of music unifies people. And that alone translates the precise point of this celebratory concert.
“A concert that will not just celebrate our country's independence, but also intends to bring all Namibians in unity to celebrate in style as one,” Ekongo said.
Nasria, represented by its managing director Ndjoura Tjozongoro, expressed their excitement about being associated with an event marking Namibia's 30th independence celebrations, a symbol of the peace, unity and stability Namibians have enjoyed for the past three decades.
“It is under this pretext that we have partnered up with other stakeholders to contribute to the 30th independence celebrations concert,” Tjozongoro said.
PDK's Kamtonyo, who was among the artists in attendance, promised a fire set from the trio. “I want to show artists from other countries that we are Namibians and we do things differently this side,” he said. Other artists on the impressive line-up are: Lioness, Tate Buti, Sunny Boy, DJ Castro, Exit, Adora, Gazza, Top Cheri and Lize Ehlers, as well as continental superstars Tiwa Savage, D'Banj and Master KG.
