City extends markets trading hours

NAMPA
The City of Windhoek has with immediate effect extended the trading hours for traders at the respective markets from 06:00 until 20:00, as the operations of the trading were affected by the outbreak of Covid-19.

In a media statement, CoW Mayor Fransina Kahunga said the traders must however continue to observe the Covid-19 protocols for both themselves and their customers and should take the responsibility to maintain the registers at the entrances of the respective markets and trading sites.

“Traders are encouraged to continuously keep the general hygiene in the markets and trading sites,” she said.

Kahungu noted that as the Covid-19 situation started to improve, the council commenced to gradually reopen the markets, under stringent protocols and currently, the council now allows traders trading from the formal markets and designated trading sites in the Windhoek area to conduct their businesses for longer hours, in order to earn a living.
