Chile win Sport Wrap Cup
Chile won the first edition of the Sport Wrap Cup at the SKW sports field in Windhoek on Saturday.
Chile, who didn't lose any of their matches in the Sport Wrap Cup five-a-aside football tournament, beat NBL 6-1 in the final to scoop N$5 000.
Team Agra came third and walked away with N$3 000.
Fox Nambundungu, the goalkeeper and captain of Chile, said they will use the money on a social event.
He added the competition was exciting for them and well-organised.
Paul Kamulelo from Team Agra also said the competition was well-organised and that they will take part in the event again, but will ensure they are much fitter.
The editor of Namibian Sun and group sports coordinator at Namibia Media Holdings (NMH), Toivo Ndjebela, said this was NMH's humble way of bringing people together in a social but productive way.
“It was a workout worth every drop of sweat, but more importantly an occasion to celebrate our diversity as Namibians of different origins under the banner of sport. The event will be bigger next year,” said Ndjebela.
