Championing a new sound

Some of you may remember him from the catchy When The Rain Rain So Much Heavily back in 2019, which made the rounds after a viral speech by government official Usko Ngaamwa.
To prove that he isn’t a one hit wonder, Cota Inmza - real name Immanuel Machado - recently released a body of work in the form of the Torridity mixtape. The project boasts 15 songs with features by MIG, Muti, Marven Southgate, Elia Da Vincii and more.
In an interview with tjil, Cota Inmza said the response to Torridity has been positive, adding that the mixtape has reached people across the country.
He said is grateful for the support he’s received from family, friends, fans and fellow artists.
Visual appeal
He shared that he is planning to drop visuals next year.
“I am looking forward to work on my first visual projects. The songs I am planning to make videos are Moro, No Sleep, Vaseline and Diranene,” Cota Inmza announced.
His music carries strong cultural elements and nuances. Asked what informs his sonic direction, the music producer said: “I pride myself in my heritage, I am an African child who has been exposed to great diversity.
“I just love my African culture and I am proud to be African.
“The main reason why I focus more on cultural stuff is because I don't want us to forget about who we are, our origin, our culture, our history. Like Bob Marley once said, ‘if you know your history, then you know where you’re coming from’.”
Family matters
Managed by his elder sister Selma Machado, Cota Inmza told tjil his goal with his latest offering is to create soundtracks for people to make happy memories to, as well as establish a strong fan base.
“My goal is to make others happy by giving them various sounds that they can dance to. Heavy rain greatly achieved this and Torridity has also been doing well in achieving this.
“May the beautiful sounds of Torridity soothe our souls during this festive season. This year has not been easy, may we keep well and be safe,” Cota Inmza said.
