Busiswa celebrates life
South African artist Busiswa implores audiences to celebrate their lives and achievements during her performances.
Busiswa hit the 081every1Fest stage recently and made sure she left her mark. The young mom opened her act with a remix of Beyoncé's Who Runs the World and spent four minutes of her act to talk to the females in the audience about empowerment.
The singer explained that her hit track, Lahla, is about them being themselves in any situation, and loving and celebrating oneself.
“In the song I say 'they want to be free as you are', because no matter how much drama you think you are going through, someone else is having it harder than you are. We all have something to celebrate and you have to remember that,” she told the audience.
The MTC 081Every1Fest surpassed all expectations by recording an overwhelming attendance of music lovers at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. With incredible and electrifying performances by a powerful line-up of both local and continental acts, the crowd was kept on their feet, dancing throughout. With the strong presence of tight security at the venue, the festival busted the security myth surrounding the stadium. Busiswa, who shared her excitement about being in Namibia, once again performed her song Bim Bim with Sally Boss Madam. The singer sent a shout out to all baby mamas in the audience, as she also became a mom seven months ago to a son.
She said he was the reason for her celebrations at the festival. She urged all baby mamas to celebrate their children and not take parenthood for granted.
A total of 19 541 tickets were sold for the event, which indicates its roaring success. The core essence of the 081Every1Fest was charity aimed towards alleviating and lessening the burden of the homelessness in Namibia, with proceeds from the concert meant for the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia through Standard Bank's Buy-a-Brick initiative.
MTC executive and festival organiser, Tim Ekandjo, said it was a resounding success, with thousands from around the country getting a taste of local and international performances on the day.
